Born in Lviv, Ukraine, Ms. Olesya Kurylyak started her music study at the music school “Solomiya Krushelnytska”. In 1999 she won the Grand-Prix of M.Strikharzh international violin competition in her home town Lviv.
After moving to Vienna, she continued her study at the University of Music and performing arts, Vienna. She won first prize of Tibor Varga international violin competition in Sion, Switzerland.
She had played with the orchestra “Solistes Europeens Luxembourg” since 2002. With the Haydn Orchestra, she was on the German Tour in 2007, and performed at the Haydntage 2007 and in Barcelona and Madrid in 2008.
Since the 2008/09 season, she is an official member of the Vienna State
Opera Orchestra and in the future we hope she will be a one of the very few
female official members of the Vienna Philharmonic.
