Successful Debut with Los Angels Philharmonic

While Adam Fischer was in Vienna with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in January, he was summoned at short notice by one of "Big Six" Orchestras of the USA, the Los Angels Philharmonic.  That was the invitation to conduct the January subscription concert as a replacement of the sick conductor Franz Welser-Möst.  Adam changed the program from Bruckner to Mozart and Kodály and flew to the West Coast on 18. January.

There were three subscription concerts on January 22. 23. and 25.  He played Mozart's Oboe Concerto, Symphony No. 38 "Prague" and  excerpts from Kodály's "Háry Janos".  Also, there was another short concert for young people including  the "Fledermaus" Overture and "Merry Train Polka" by Strauss.

Although Adam did not have time to prepare for the new orchestra, he conducted  wonderfully and all the concerts were very successful.  The performances were well received by the critics of local newspapers and especially,  won the highest praise from the Los Angeles Times saying "The conductor's debut reflects the rapport of orchestra."

The Los Angeles Philharmonic itself was very satisfied by Adam and already gave another invitation for the 1999/2000 season.  It is still under negotiation but it is great news for the fans on the West Coast.
