International Haydntage 2001 Program

The programme of the International Haydntage 2001 has been published and booking opened on 16 March. This year is the 200th anniversary of Haydn's last oratorio, "Die Jahreszeiten", and the main theme of the festival is "seasons". Of course the oratorio will be performed by Haydn Orchestra conducted by Adam Fischer. Another "Seasons" by Vivaldi with the Moscow Academy is on the programme too.

This year's opera is a double bill of Haydn's "La cantarina" and "Lo speziale". As usual there are 4 performances of this in the festival. Although the Haydn Orchestra will be in the pit, the music director is the young Austrian conductor/pianist, Stefan Vladar. The very popular Cecilia Bartoli, who made her memorable debut at the Haydntage in 1998, will return and give a recital on Sunday 9 September. The finale, the farewell matinee will be given as always by Adam Fischer and the Haydn Orchestra and will consist of C-minor pieces, Haydn's Symphonies No. 78 and No. 95, and Mozart's piano concerto KV491.

Following is the overview of the program. The Haydn Orchestra's performances are in italic.

Adam Fischer conducts Ring at Bayreuth

Adam conducted Ring cycle several times this season at Mannheim. Amazingly, he will conduct at famous Bayreuth Festival. Because of the sudden death of conductor Gueseppe Sinopoli, Bayreuth Festspiele was looking for the new conductor. Hearing the success of "Tristan" in Budapest, they visited Mannheim and made offer. The condition is conducting entire 3 cycles. After serious consideration, Adam accepted the offer. As a result, Mannheim School Concert and summer tour by Haydn Orchestra will be changed. Please be aware of the schedule or program change.

Editorial Note

Adam Fischer and Haydn Orchestra's major actives are in Europe. Since this fan club is located in thre USA, it was difficult to make a detailed report of their concerts. We decided to move the office to Germany, Land Baden-Württemburg, close to Mannheim. In the future, we will be able to report in much more detail.

The moving date is scheduled for late May. Please be aware that mail to the fan club may be delayed. Please use the Internet for the communication. The Home Page and E-mail address will not change.
