Adam Fischer and Wagner's Opera

Following his successful debut at Bayreuth, substituting at short notice for the conductor Giuseppe Sinopoli, Adam Fischer was engaged to conduct 3 cycles of "The Ring of the Nibelung" this year. Changing from Luan DeVol, the new Brunhilde is the young German soprano, Evelyn Herlitzius. She is active at many opera houses and made her Vienna State Opera debut as Leonore in Fidelio under the baton of Adam Fischer. Another newcomer at Bayreuth who has frequently performed with Adam Fischer is, Olaf Bar. He will sing Donner (Das Rheingold) and Gunther (Gotterdammerung). The young Japanese soprano, Mihoko Fujimura will make her debut as Fricka. Last year's successful British singers, John Tomlinson as Hagen (Gotterdammerung) and Graham Clark as Loge (Das Rheingold) and Mime (Siegfried) will appear once more.

As the current "Ring Conductor", Adam Fischer's Wagner performances have multiplied. After Bayreuth, he will conduct a cycle of "The Ring" at the Vienna State Opera this October and at Mannheim in January 2003.

In the 2003/2003 season, he conducts another cycle at Vienna and plans a new production of "Tristan und Isolde" at Mannheim.
