When the Haydn Orchestra was formed in 1987, Hungary was still a communist country and it was very difficult for Hungarian musicians to cross the border and come to Eisenstadt. Adam Fischer worked very hard to convince government to make it happen.
After 17 years, the situation changed a lot. Finally on May 1, 2004 Hungary joined the Europe Union. Technically the border still remains for a few years but basically Hungarian musicians can play in Europe under the same condition as Austrian musicians. For the audience, it becomes much easier to visit Hungary, where the Haydn Orchestra has subscription concerts.
Next season the Haydn Orchestra has a concert series at Budapest and a tour in
Switzerland. Adam Fischer has two big opera projects in Amsterdam and London. We will
report the preview of the next season schedule in the next issue.
