Adam Fischer becomes the chef conductor of Hungarian Radio Symphony

As soon as the contract of Nationaltheater Mannheim ends in 2005/06 season, Adam assumes the position of the chef conductor of Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Like the National Philharmonic, the Hungary Radio Symphony Orchestra is one of best ensembles in Hungary. The list of principal conductors includes Ern? Dohnányi, János Ferencsik, László Somogyi, György Lehel and András Ligeti. Under the name of the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, it made several important recordings.

Since the orchestra is owned by Hungarian Radio, many concerts are broadcast live on Bartók radio. This radio station is well known for high quality Internet sending. For international fans, there will be more chance to hear Adam Fischer’s concert by Internet.

Adam Fischer will make a debut at German Opera Berlin

Because of current difficult financial situation, Christian Thielemann resigned the GMD position at German Opera Berlin. Although he was scheduled to conduct “From the House of the Dead” premiere for Janacek year, he personally asked Adam Fischer to replace him and conduct the new production. Therefore Adam will take over the production and appears at Berlin on 19, 22, and 25 February.

Editorial Note

September is the month of Haydntage. This year we had unfortunate accident but overall it was a successful festival. Recently the opera production became bigger and bigger, but the Haydnsaal is not a real opera theater. It may be a turning point to make smaller productions just suitable for Haydnsaal.

After the Ring cycle this summer, Adam Fischer will take one year off from Bayreuth. But still he has his final Ring cycle at Mannheim this season in July. Now new season is started, Adam Fischer is very busy for the new productions including debut performance at German Opera, Berlin.

Haydn Orchestra is also planning the exciting Swiss tour. Next issue, we are planning to report on the Haydn Orchestra tour, Adam Fischer’s important appearance with Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and Mozart week in Mannheim.
