Haydn Orchestra concert series 2005

Not only at Eisenstadt, has the Haydn Orchestra taken an important role in classical music in Budapest, where they have 4 concerts in 2005

The subscription concerts are given at the Italian Institute, Budapest. The first concert was on 30th of January. The program was Cello Concerti by Haydn and Vivaldi, and Haydn’s Surprise Symphony. The second concert is on 1st of May, when the Japanese violinist Joji Hattori will play the famous Mendelssohn violin concerto. The last subscription concert is on 19th of September. The programs are almost same as the final matinee in Eisenstadt.

In addition there is one more in Budapest. In late March and early April there is a famous Budapest Spring Festival. The Haydn Orchestra and Adam Fischer had participated several times in the past. This year they will play Haydn’s opera “L’isola disabitata” in a concert performance on 2nd April.

During the Haydntage, the orchestra has the opera, the mass program and the final matinee. This year’s opera is Haydn’s most famous “L’anima del filosofo”. The premier is on 8th of September and other performances are on 12th, 13th, and 15th. The mass program is “Creation Mass” on 14th of September. Just like last year, there are 2 performances of matinee on 18th. The program includes Mozart Symphony No. 40 and Haydn’s No. 101. Adam Fischer conducts the opera and final matinee. The British conductor James Judd is invited by the Haydn Orchestra for first time and conducts the Mass program.

Editorial Note

The schedule of International Haydntage is now published. Since 2006 is Mozart year, this year’s motto is “Haydn and Mozart”. Tickets are on sale on February 21.

The guest conductor of Haydn Orchestra, James Judd is the GMD of the New Zeeland Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with many famous organizations including the Berlin Philharmonic, and Israel Philharmonic. He has conducted a complete Bernstein collection for Naxos. It is always very interesting to see how the Haydn Orchestra plays with a guest conductor.
