Although Adam Fischer was born in Budapest, he built his career mainly in Austria and Germany. He was the principal guest conductor of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra but since Zoltan Kocsis took over its GMD position, he has only rarely appeared on the podium with Hungarian orchestra. Since the start of this season, Adam Fischer has been working with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra as the chief conductor.
The first performance was the Bartok memorial concert on 26th September with the program of piano concerto No. 3 and “Bluebeard’s castle”. Adam has several interesting projecst with this orchestra, including all the Brahms symphonies and a semi-staged “Parsifal”. Since Hungarian Radio owns this orchestra, all concerts are broadcasted live by Bartok Radio not only by air-wave but also in internet. Adam Fischer’s fans all over the world can listen to him live at http://www.radio.hu. The next broadcast will be on 17th of November, Beethoven Symphony No. 9.

The new 2005/06 season is started. In September Adam Fischer was busy not only
with the Haydntage, but conducting the season opening of Zurich Opera “Le Nozze
di Figaro” and “Der Rosenkavalier” at the Vienna State Opera. As we mentioned in
the article, he also appeared in Budapest with the Hungarian Radio Symphony
Orchestra. We don’t have chance to report all of his performances but all of
them were very successful. It was a wonderful start of new season.
There is news about his debut at Berlin State Opera “Othello”, and he will conduct several concerts with Vienna Symphony Orchestra, including the Sylvester/New Year concert by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. We will report these activities in the next issue.
Also, our newsletter “Baratom” will mark No. 50. At the same time, our home page will have 10th anniversary. Since the Internet is so new, a site with 10 years history is very rare. We are very proud and let’s celebrate with a special article.
