Adam Fischer’s 08/09 Season Schedule

In the last issue we had reported the preliminary schedule of Hungarian State Opera. In addition of these performances, he still appears at the podium of other orchestras and opera houses.

During 08/09 season Adam conducts three pieces at the Vienna State Opera, Verdi’s “Otello” in November, R. Strauss “Rosenkavalier” in January, and Beethoven’s “Fidelio” in April.

For the past few seasons he had at least one new production at Zurich. Next season it will be Haydn’s “La fedeltá premiata”. The premier will be March 1, 2009. In total there are 10 performances in March and April.

Another new production next season is at Monnaie Theater in Brussels. He will conduct Dvorak’s “Rusalka”. He will conduct eleven out of twelve performances. Since Adam still has three new productions at Hungarian State Opera, in total he has five new productions.

He also has a lot of concert projects. As usual he has a Mozart series with the Danish Radio Sinfonietta. The first performance of the new season will be August 31.
Adam was a frequent guest conductor of the Bamberg Symphony. He will conduct Haydn Symphony No. 104 and Dvorak Symphony No. 6 in the new season. Then he will take several yeas off from Bamberg.

Since 2009 is the memorial year of Haydn, the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra has many concerts throughout the season. Especially near the 200th anniverasry of Haydn’s death at the end of May, Adam and the Haydn Orchestra will play “The return of Tobias” and “The Creation” in Vienna, Luxemburg, and Eisenstadt.

Editorial Note

Not only opera and concert, Adam Fischer is very active for the recordings. He is currently engaged in the project of Mozart all symphonies with Danish Radio Sinfonietta. In addition he made Kodaly recordings with Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Recently the first CD was released in Hungary. He conducted Hungarian Radio Choir without orchestra.

Finally Budapest Wagner Days are approaching. Since the Ring in four consecutive dates is very unique, this project gets a lot of attention by Wagnerians from all over the world. The ticket was sold out almost six months before the performance. Next issue we will report the Budapest Wagner Days, as well as the Danube Festival in Ulm.
